Winter Skills Courses We would have come back the way we had came but our guide took us back via a different route (Lingmell) which offered additional and as stunning views over Derwent Water, the surrounding valleys and Wast Water. It gave me a very good introduction and orientation to somewhere I don’t know at all. Our guide Paul was also exceptional and very prepared, to the point he was able to repair one of our boots that fell apart. The weather luckily for us was perfect too, not to warm and lots of sunshine we could see for miles at the top. After a 4 year break from visiting the Lakes we felt that this year would be the time that we had to do it, but weren't sure we could do it on our own. The scenery, company and sunshine made it a perfect day. Patterdale to Great Knotts had great views, saw the rounding up of the Herdwicks from the fells and the ongoing flood repair works. to summit the mighty Bow Fell.
